Happy Friday! Welcome to another ordinary edition of Friday @ Second Half! Yup, just any old edition of our now-weekly-again newsletter!
Our closed alpha playtest is still running, and we'd love to have you join us and try out an early demo build! See our Discord for more!
Last time, I let you behind the scenes to look at our player character iteration, and teased a new enemy!
This week, we're exhibiting some frankly shocking behaviour — and showing off some sweet new robot joints!
Danger: High Voltage!
An ancient relic of MS80's earliest days — the golden age of Gamescom 2024 — returns, renewed, refreshed and bloody dangerous! That's right, it's everyone's favourite melee-weapon and door-panel-overload tool — The Shock Stick!
This week, Jack's been overhauling our lightning damage behaviours and effects. He's also been testing them out on some poor, helpless batteries that didn't know any better.
That'll teach them to try and limit electricity to safe and predictable standards!

I can't make an unlimited power joke, because I already made one in a previous Saturday @ Second Half and an ancient evil wizard curse prevents me from repeating jokes. I can't actually find which edition I wrote the joke in, but it's in there!
Core Gameplay, Redefined
Laura continues to do fantastic work on our player character. This week, the robot gets some articulated joints and a much chunkier power core!

An unusual development emerged in the Second Half Discord server last week following a new playtest build release — our player character's feet and legs were the perfect thinness to fall through things like gratings! Oh no!
You will be pleased to know the character now has bigger feet. They are invisible...but the collisions are there, trust me.

Looking Ahead
Phew! There goes another Friday @ Second Half newsletter. And I didn't even make a joke about the number once!
Next week, another internal playtest for the team and a new look for parts of our Steam page!
